This year's theme is a bold one and it speaks to the current economic and manufacturing challenges in the USA. Mark your calendar for May 3-5, 2011 as ALAW returns to Michigan this spring for its 18th annual workshop. Join FMA and the Conference Co-Chairs, Stan Ream, Edison Welding Institute, and Mark Williamson, Johnson Controls, Inc. at The Inn at St. John's in Plymouth for a world-class industry event encompassing state-of-the-art laser processes for manufacturers, suppliers, and job shops.

New This Year

Conference Co-Chair, Stan Ream kicks off the event by addressing, "What's Going on Outside of Automotive?”. In the past, ALAW has primarily focused on automotive applications. The conference planning committee is excited to announce that the workshop has been expanded to also include topics on: shipyard applications, uses in aerospace, heavy machinery/equipment, and the wind energy sector.

Who Should Attend

ALAW benefits manufacturing, production, product design, and research and development engineers; and anyone interested in using and/or developing flexible applications for laser material processing systems to reduce costs, improve quality, and provide flexible laser manufacturing. Owners, managers, and supervisors of fabrication job shops, as well as new end-users who want to learn more about the benefits of using laser technology for new or different applications to expand their businesses, should also attend.

— Testimonials —

Stan ReamLasers are leading U.S. manufacturing out of the recession. Laser manufacturers and laser system integrators are experiencing 25% growth after the worst economic downturn in decades. ALAW will showcase a variety of laser materials processing technologies that are contributing to this growth over a range of industry sectors.

As a fabricator, ALAW was invaluable to my company. In two days, we were able to get a good start on evaluating opportunities in laser tailored blank welding; body-in-white prototype cutting; laser-cut tubular products, and other prototype and pre-production fabricated metal products (automotive and other markets). We now have product offerings in each of these segments thanks in part to the information and networking provided at ALAW! Great and productive conference — thank you!
